Swim Next Door is a private swim school right here in Aurora. We run private and semi-private swim lessons June through August, and we provide certified NLS lifeguarding for pool parties, birthday celebrations, and private events all across York Region. Both services are fully insured and backed by real credentials.
We keep our classes tiny on purpose. Semi-private lessons have a maximum of two swimmers per instructor, so your child actually gets coached, not just supervised. Philip brings experience teaching and lifeguarding for the Town of Aurora, years working with swimmers of all ages and abilities, and time spent guarding real events with real emergencies. That experience comes with you every session.
The full credential stack: National Lifeguard (NLS), Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (LSSI), Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI), Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and Emergency First Aid Instructor (EFAI). All kept current, no shortcuts, no exceptions.

Every instructor holds their National Lifeguard (NLS), Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor certifications. These are professional-grade credentials, kept current, with no exceptions.
There are no fixed class slots forcing you to rearrange your week. Once you book, you choose the times that work for your family. Any day, within your session. No rigid timetables, no waiting lists for a specific hour.
In a semi-private class, there is never more than one instructor for every two swimmers. Most swim schools put eight kids with one instructor and call it a lesson. We do not. At most, you get one trained coach for every two swimmers in the water.
Years of working with children in aquatic environments, from complete beginners who have never touched a pool, to teens preparing for lifeguard certification. We understand how kids learn, what holds them back, and how to build genuine confidence in the water. That experience shapes how every lesson is planned and delivered.
Knowing how to swim well is not the same as knowing how to teach it effectively. We communicate corrections clearly, adapt to how each individual swimmer learns, and keep every session purposeful from start to finish.
